Emancipation Day Parade and Cultural Show

As is customary, the Tobago Heritage Festival will culminate with the Emancipation Day celebrations on Saturday August 1, 2009.

Various cultural groups and communities will don African attire and parade through the streets to the accompaniment of drums, tambrin and tamboo bamboo to celebrate as our ancestors did when slavery was abolished.  The climax of the day’s activities will be a staged cultural production highlighting the best of our African traditions.
